You've heard of a "running" start right? Every kid knows that it's easier to jump over a creek or leap over a fence if you first take a couple steps back, start running as fast as you can, and then jump. A good running start is the key to success.

Well this is a flying start which is even better!

This course isn't going to teach you everything you need to know about your puppy, but it will get you started. By the end, you'll have a really good idea of what you want to learn and work on next.

Since this is just the start and the real adventure lies on the other side, we have a couple pieces of advice:

Play every game and read each article

Even if you think you already know the material, it's a quick and easy way to refresh your knowledge. More importantly, it will help you better understand how Harper works.

Move fast

You're not trying to master all of these skills. Mastery comes with time. Instead, you should try to make progress, get a sense of how a game works for your dog, and then move on.

Follow your interests

You might encounter a game or skill that you want to learn more about or want to take further with your pup. Explore that interest! The Flying Start only lets you dip your toes in the water, but there's nothing that says you can't explore other courses and go for a swim if you'd like.

Build a habit

Make a habit of training for at least 5 minutes every day. It's not about how long you train, it's about how many times you train.

Laugh and have fun

If you're not laughing off the mistakes and having fun, this whole dog parent thing is going to drag. That said, everyone has bad days. In those cases, end the session early. Don't get frustrated. There's always next time.
